Talk about ministry in this current generation and you find the new trends in the world also in the church. It was said in the Bible calling it “The Words Of Prophecy” where the church will transform into worldly ways.
No one can say: “No the church has not changed” because it is written and if you disagree with what is written that means you disagree with GOD as God is Word.
2 Timothy 3:16
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
Paul Wrote in the book of Romans 12:2
“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
We are going to look at this in a circle just checking what is in the world and what is the church. Are we slowly conforming to the patterns of the world?
A good point to note is that a church is not a building but its where two or more people are gathered in GOD’s name. So what ever two or more do, and gathered together in GOD’s name they represent a church.
Fact 1 : Technology
Before we used to carry our heavy bibles a collection of 66 books in a paper held on your right hand as you walk to church. The pastor also had his hefty Word of God as he held it majestically at the pulpit in front of the congregation.
What about now? Pastors slide their I pad screens as they preach and also we have re sized Bibles in form of Bible Apps.
There is no wrong thing in embracing technology but their is a high risk of diverting of attention especially when you are on the internet.
Offerings are now sent via mobile money and recently the swiping of offerings.
Fact 2 : Dressing
Dressing is another part which has now changed. In the older days men and women in the church wore clothes that covered like 90% of their bodies. It was a bit un comfortable as you had no space especially when their was heat.
Time has now passed and we have different kinds of dressing. We have now guys wearing casual even some wearing football jerseys from the formal suit usually wore.
Hairstyle is not left out at all if you talk of the current trends of hairstyles in the world also seen in the church.
Ladies now also wear jeans now taken as a form of dressing in Church. Short skirts and not too short but add tight to that. This would easily lead a guy to think the other way especially when only 60% of the body is covered.
Fact 3 : Music
The biggest controversial topic that most Christians don’t want to talk about it as they fear being judged by the rest. Remember if you don’t talk about it then you agree about the wrong doings you might see in certain songs.
Here is the fact. Saving souls to Christ is hard thing especially if you put it that its by your might and not by GOD’s spirit. To save a youth who is deep in the pleasures of the world you have to attract them with what they like. And that’s how the world genres of music were brought into the church.
The different Genres include Ragga, Reggae, Hip-hop, Rock ,Trance,Rhythm and Blues among others which are now all in the church. The bible does not specifically categorize these songs as gospel or not but its something we adopted.
The question is “Does your music lead someone to Christ? or its just a song to make someone happy.”
Romans 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
Fact 4 : Dancing
You have to agree with me that most dances we see are not innovated but are actually worldly moves.
Think about this :
Have you ever thought why you like some gospel music and at times you don’t love others. And why does worship always touch the hearts of everyone?
Are you walking on the sweet gospel or the hard convicting gospel. Some of things are good but when we try to bring the world in the Church that’s when the devil comes in and corrupts our mind.
Are you walking on the easy wide gate where gospel is sweet and entertaining and the world loves you or the narrow gate where the world hates you for standing for the truth.
Matthew 7:13
“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many.
Let it not be that GOD will tell you in the last days get away from me i don’t know you. Lets focus more on the Cross.
