A tragic incident at Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi on Saturday night, December 20, 2025, left a young woman dead. Karen Lojore, a Daystar University student, collapsed during a crowd crush. She was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead. Karen was pursuing a BSc in Applied Computer Science.

The incident sparked outrage across Kenya. Many called for justice for the student. Asake, real name Ahmed Ololadelisten, expressed his heartbreak. “My heart goes out to the family, friends, and loved ones of Karen Lojore. I pledge to support and do my best to understand what happened. Those responsible should be held accountable,” he said. He added, “Music has always been my way of sharing love and joy, and it breaks my heart that anyone had to experience such loss.”
Tukutane Entertainment, the event organiser, said they are cooperating fully with authorities. “The safety of our concertgoers is a matter we take very seriously,” they said. They added that they will not speculate and will approach the situation with care, transparency, and accountability.
Witnesses described chaos at the stadium gates and inside tunnels. Fans struggled to gain entry, causing crowding and crushing. Earlier, the concert faced issues when Kenyan music group Kodong Klan withdrew, citing mistreatment during soundcheck. Tukutane said the withdrawal was independent and all contracts were met.
The tragedy has renewed concerns about crowd control at large events in Kenya. Authorities continue investigating. Organisers, performers and the public are urged to follow safety measures to prevent similar incidents.
