A family in Ndakaini village, Gatanga, Murang’a County, is grieving the tragic loss of Sammy Jonnes Ndichu and his wife, Nina Wambui Ndichu. The couple died in a road accident on December 12 along the Maai Mahiu–Naivasha route. Friends, family, and the community were left shocked and heartbroken.

Tributes poured in on social media. Friends and loved ones shared heartfelt messages and eulogies. Many praised the couple’s deep love and devotion. Sammy and Nina were admired for the joy and inspiration they brought to those around them.
The Architects Alliance, of which Sammy was a member, confirmed the news on Facebook. The post read: “It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Arch. Sammy Jonnes Ndichu Mwangi, BORAQS Registration No. A2063, who passed on 12/12/25 in the afternoon, along with his loving wife, Nina Ann Wambui.” Funeral and memorial arrangements were also shared.
Family and friends held a memorial service on Wednesday, December 17, at PCEA Mt. Olives in Njathaini. A candlelight vigil followed on Thursday, December 18, at their home in Kiambu. The couple was laid to rest together on Friday, December 19, at their family home in Ndakaini village. They leave behind their four-year-old son.
Sammy and Nina shared the same birthday. Sammy was born on April 23, 1993, and Nina on April 23, 1995. Remarkably, they also passed away on the same day. This has touched everyone who knew them.
Their story has sparked grief and sympathy online. Friends and the community continue to honor their memory. Sammy and Nina will be remembered for their love, joy, and the inspiration they gave to others. Their story is a reminder of life’s fragility and the power of love.
