Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior appeared visibly frustrated ahead of their Carabao Cup semi-final clash against Arsenal on February 3. Cameras caught him shouting at Arsenal players during warm-ups, urging them to “stay in your half,” highlighting his irritation over the opposition encroaching on Chelsea’s side.

The match ended in heartbreak for the Blues, who exited the competition 4-2 on aggregate after former Chelsea player Kai Havertz delivered the decisive goal in stoppage time. Despite desperate efforts to score, Rosenior’s side struggled to break through Arsenal’s disciplined defense and created very few clear chances.
Throughout the night, Chelsea appeared lackluster in North London, failing to seriously trouble Kepa Arrizabalaga. Their tactical setup contained Arsenal’s attacking threats but offered little in return. This forced Rosenior into a double substitution in the second half, bringing on Cole Palmer and Estevao in search of a spark.
Arsenal, on the other hand, stood firm and organized. They limited Chelsea to just two shots on target in the game, securing a place in their first Carabao Cup final since 2018. The Gunners’ defensive discipline and calm approach proved too much for Chelsea’s attacking efforts, frustrating Rosenior and his team throughout the match.
Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp reacted to the warm-up incident, noting, “He’s got the needle for sure; you can see it there, he’s telling them to stay in their half.” The comment highlighted Rosenior’s visible frustration as he tried to manage his squad before kickoff.
After the game, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta praised his side’s performance, calling it a “magical” effort from start to finish. “Over the two legs, we deserved to go through. We expected a tough match, and we wrapped it up beautifully in the end with Kai scoring. The reaction from the crowd, the starters, the finishers, the staff; it was a complete team effort,” Arteta said.
Chelsea now face a period of reflection after their disappointing exit, while Arsenal shift focus to Wembley, preparing for a Carabao Cup final that promises more drama and high-stakes football.
