The Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Geoffrey Ruku, has strongly denied claims by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. Gachagua had said Ruku visited his grandmother’s home during a door-to-door campaign in Mbeere North. Speaking at a rally in Muminji on November 18, Ruku called the allegations “stupid talks.” He accused Gachagua of spreading lies.

“Riggy G, you are misleading Kenyans by saying you visited my grandmother to take tea,” Ruku said firmly. He added that his parents are deceased and he has never met his grandmother. He described the claims as false and disrespectful to Mbeere North residents.
Ruku was campaigning for Leonard Muriuki Wamuthende, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate. The by-election is set for November 27. The seat became vacant after Ruku was appointed CS for Public Service and Human Capital Development. He urged residents to focus on leaders who bring respect, jobs, and development. He warned them not to be distracted by rumors or political theatrics.
The race has drawn attention, with UDA’s Wamuthende facing Democratic Party (DP) candidate Newton Karish. Ruku warned politicians against spreading false stories. He said such claims distract from real issues and hurt public trust. He called for honest debates and solutions-focused campaigns. He stressed that leaders should be judged by their actions, not rumors. Integrity, he said, is key to fair elections and development.
As the by-election nears, tensions in Mbeere North are rising. Ruku’s response shows his commitment to supporting his party’s candidate. He urged residents to focus on candidates’ work, development plans and employment initiatives. His message was clear: the people want leaders who deliver results, not those who spread lies. Ruku’s remarks highlight the stakes and the need for honest, development-focused leadership in the region.
