DCI Officer in Custody After Wife Found Dead in Roysambu Apartment

A senior officer from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations has turned himself in following the death of his wife in Nairobi. Daniel Macharia surrendered at the Naivasha Police Station after detectives began searching for him in connection with the killing of Florence Nyagah, 43.

The incident happened in a rented apartment at By Faith Apartments along Lumumba Drive in Roysambu. Police say the woman’s body was discovered inside the residence after a report was made to authorities. Officers from Kasarani responded and secured the scene for examination.

According to investigators, the body was found in the sitting area of the apartment. Preliminary observations indicated multiple injuries consistent with a violent attack. Blood traces were documented near the entrance and along the corridor. Forensic teams processed the area and collected evidence for further testing.

A knife believed to be linked to the incident was recovered during the search. Police say the suspected weapon was found concealed in the kitchen and had visible blood stains. It has been taken for analysis as detectives build their case.

Reports suggest Florence had been in communication with her family shortly before the tragedy. She was last seen during a video call with her daughter in the afternoon. After that conversation, attempts to reach her were unsuccessful. Concerned relatives later visited the apartment, where they made the distressing discovery.

Macharia, who works at DCI Headquarters along Kiambu Road, is now in custody. Authorities describe him as the main suspect in the investigation. He is expected to be transferred to Nairobi for further questioning as legal procedures continue.

Residents in the area have expressed shock over the incident. Police have urged the public to remain calm while investigations proceed. Detectives are reviewing evidence, gathering statements, and working to establish what led to the fatal confrontation inside the apartment.
