Kenya’s fastest sprinter, Ferdinand Omanyala, has challenged American YouTuber IShowSpeed ahead of his January visit to Kenya. Speed is known for high-energy stunts and unusual challenges. He has previously raced Ashton Hall and even a cheetah in Botswana, winning both races.

Omanyala said he is open to a short-distance race with Speed. However, he will not compete for free. “He has a team and I have a team. If he wishes to compete, he will reach out when he is in Kenya,” Omanyala said. He added that he expects at least USD 50,000, about KSh 6.4 million. “So long as there is money, we are not doing it for free, ganji ndio inabonga,” he added.
The announcement sparked reactions online. Some fans praised Omanyala for knowing his worth. Others joked about whether anyone would pay so much for a sprint against a YouTuber. Kenyan prankster Vindee joked that the amount is what Omanyala would earn just by showing Speed around.
Speed’s Kenya trip is part of his broader African tour. He will meet fans and take part in unique challenges. Omanyala’s name appeared on a list of celebrities expected to meet him. This has fueled speculation about whether the race will happen.
Fans have debated who would win if the race takes place. The price tag has not deterred excitement. Many are eagerly waiting to see if Omanyala and IShowSpeed will go head-to-head.
The potential race promises both athleticism and entertainment. It could attract attention locally and globally. All eyes will be on Nairobi to see if Kenya’s fastest man can match the energy of the YouTube star.
