Former Lugari MP Dr. Enoch Kibunguchy Dies After Long Illness, Leaving the Region and Nation in Mourning

Former Lugari Member of Parliament Dr. Enoch Kibunguchy has died. He passed away on Monday night at an Eldoret hospital. His death followed a prolonged illness. The news broke on Tuesday morning. It spread quickly across the region and the nation. Many politicians, colleagues, and residents expressed shock and grief.

Several leaders confirmed the news. They described it as a heavy loss for Lugari. Messages of condolence poured in. ODM Communications Director Philip Etale called the loss heartbreaking. He said the region had once again been plunged into mourning. Etale added that the news came even before the burial of former Lugari MP and Cabinet minister Cyrus Jirongo. This made the loss feel even heavier for the community.

Dr. Kibunguchy had succeeded Jirongo in the 2002 General Election. His passing comes just days after Jirongo’s death. The back-to-back losses have left a deep void. Residents recalled Dr. Kibunguchy’s years of service. They remembered his impact on Lugari’s political direction and development. The community mourned a leader who served with dedication and humility.

Former Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa paid tribute. He described Dr. Kibunguchy as humble, knowledgeable and approachable. He added that he carried himself with dignity. He valued dialogue and worked well across political divides. Former Tongaren MP Eseli Simiyu also sent condolences. He praised Dr. Kibunguchy’s contributions to the constituency and the nation.
