Fourth-Year Garissa University Student Busted With Hundreds of Bhang Rolls in Major Hostel Drug Raid

Police have arrested a fourth-year student at Garissa University after a major drug bust on campus. The raid exposed a large stash of bhang hidden inside a hostel room. The discovery has raised fresh fears about drug use in learning institutions. It has also renewed calls for tighter security in universities.

Officers acted on strong intelligence. They believed a student was selling narcotics inside the campus. The information led them to a specific hostel. The raid took place on Wednesday, January 28. Police moved in fast. They searched the room. They found 650 rolls of bhang. The drugs were packed and ready for sale. Officers said the quantity showed a serious supply operation. It was not for personal use.

The suspect is a female student in her fourth year. She was arrested on the spot. Police took her into custody. She is expected to face drug-related charges in court. Investigators are now tracing her links. They want to know who supplied the drugs. They also want to find out who else was involved. Officers say the case shows how deep drug networks have reached into schools.

Meanwhile, another operation took place in Kilifi County. It happened in Chakama Township. Officers from Langobaya Police Station received a public tip-off. The information pointed to a shop being used to store drugs. Police raided the building on Monday, January 27. They carried out a full search. Inside a steel box, they found 220 rolls and nine kilograms of suspected bhang. The drugs were hidden with other items linked to the trade.

Two suspects were arrested at the shop. They are now in police custody. The recovered drugs were taken to Langobaya Police Station. Investigations are ongoing. Officers believe the shop served as a distribution point.

The National Police Service praised the public. They said the tip-off helped stop the spread of drugs. Police urged Kenyans to keep sharing information. They can call 999, 911, or 112. They can also use the #FichuaKwaDCI hotline.

The government is now stepping in. Officials want stronger action. They plan to deploy intelligence officers in universities. They also want more police near campuses. The goal is to stop drug rings early. The aim is to protect students and their future.
