From Death Rumours to Defiance: Benjamin Netanyahu Mocks Viral Claims in Café Video

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has brushed off viral rumours about his death with humour, releasing a short video that quickly captured global attention. The clip, posted on his official X account, shows him seated at a café outside Jerusalem, appearing relaxed and composed.

In the video, Netanyahu jokes about the false claims, saying, “I’m dead for coffee,” while holding a steaming cup. The phrase, a colloquial Hebrew expression, playfully dismisses the online speculation that had spread rapidly across social media platforms.

He went further, addressing another circulating claim that his recent televised appearance had been manipulated using artificial intelligence. Critics online had pointed to what they believed was an extra finger in the footage. Responding directly, Netanyahu raised his hands toward the camera and asked, “Do you want to count the number of fingers?” turning the conspiracy into a moment of satire.

Despite the light tone, the Prime Minister shifted to a more serious message. He urged Israeli citizens to remain alert and follow safety instructions amid ongoing regional tensions. He emphasised the importance of public resilience, noting that it strengthens national institutions.

“Your resilience gives strength to me, to the government, to the army, to the Mossad,” he said.

Netanyahu also hinted at ongoing military operations, stating that Israel is taking significant action in the region. “We are doing things that I cannot share at this moment, but we are striking Iran very hard, and also Lebanon,” he added, underscoring the seriousness of the current conflict.

Meanwhile, tensions escalated further after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps issued a strong warning. State-linked media reported threats targeting Netanyahu, intensifying already strained relations.

The episode highlights the growing power of misinformation in the digital age. Even world leaders are not immune. Yet Netanyahu’s response shows how humour can be used to counter false narratives while reinforcing authority during uncertain times.
