Germany and the Netherlands sealed World Cup spots with commanding wins on Monday. Both teams only needed draws to qualify. Instead, they went on the attack.

Germany crushed Slovakia 6-0 in Leipzig. Nick Woltemade scored in the 18th minute. Serge Gnabry added a second soon after. Leroy Sane scored twice before halftime. Substitutes Ridle Baku and Assan Ouedraogo added late goals. Slovakia created chances but could not score.
“We’re relieved. It’s a great moment,” Woltemade said. “I’m playing, I’m scoring and hopefully I’ll play at the World Cup.” Coach Julian Nagelsmann praised the team. “We showed incredible spirit and worked hard from the start. Every player worked like a dog,” he said.
In Amsterdam, the Netherlands beat Lithuania 4-0. Tijani Reijnders opened the scoring from a Frenkie de Jong assist. Lithuania’s defense and goalkeeper held them until the 58th minute. Cody Gakpo scored a penalty, followed by Xavi Simons and Donyell Malen in quick succession. Koeman rotated his squad.
Reijnders said, “I watched the last World Cup at home. This time will be very different. I’m excited to play for the first time.”
Poland survived a scare in Malta, winning 3-2. Robert Lewandowski scored first, but Malta equalized twice, including a penalty. Piotr Zielinski’s late strike secured the victory and second place in Group G.
Northern Ireland beat Luxembourg 1-0 and earned a play-off spot through the Nations League. Croatia came from behind to beat Montenegro 3-2, while the Czech Republic thrashed Gibraltar 6-0.
Germany and the Netherlands advance with confidence. Both teams showed attacking flair and depth. They now prepare for the global stage in the 2026 World Cup.
