Gospel DJ Karumba Ngatia, popularly known as DJ Krowbar, is mourning the loss of his beloved wife, Joyce Wanjiru Karumba. Affectionately called Joy, she passed away in the early hours of Monday, January 26, 2026, at 3 a.m. The family described her as a woman of faith, love, and remarkable resilience.

Joyce’s health had been fragile over the past year. She underwent a kidney transplant in mid-2025, followed by a series of complications. An infection towards the end of the year was managed, but recent weeks brought further medical challenges. She had briefly been home for two weeks before being re-admitted for treatment.
She leaves behind a devoted husband, DJ Krowbar, and their three children: Toria, Riri, and Imani. The family said they are heartbroken but remain anchored in faith. They emphasized that her courage and unwavering devotion have left a lasting legacy for her children and everyone who knew her.
In a statement, the family shared: “While we are deeply saddened by this profound loss, we find comfort knowing she is now at perfect peace. As we navigate this difficult time, we kindly ask for your prayers, love, and respect for our privacy as we prepare for her final journey. Details regarding the funeral will be shared in due course.”
Friends, fans and members of the gospel community have been encouraged to keep the family in their prayers. The Karumbas expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support and love they have received.
