Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has revealed he turned down a huge offer from Saudi Arabia to stay at Old Trafford. The Portugal midfielder says he still has unfinished business at the club. He will make his 300th appearance for United this Saturday against Brighton.

Al-Hilal approached Fernandes during the close season with a very lucrative offer. But he chose ambition over money. “The first thing my wife asked me was, ‘Have you achieved everything you wanted at the club? She knows I haven’t,” Fernandes said.
United has struggled in recent seasons. Last year, they finished 15th in the league, their worst finish since 1973 – 74. They also lost the Europa League final to Tottenham, missing out on the Champions League. Despite this, Fernandes remains committed to the club. He said the manager and club assured him he is part of the long-term project. “If the club had said they wanted to cash in or that I wasn’t part of the project, I would have left. But that wasn’t the case. I still believe I can help the club reach its goals,” he said.
Fernandes is known for his fiery temperament on the field. Some have criticised him for it, but he sees it as a driving force. United’s staff view his intensity as a key asset. It pushes the team to fight for league and European success. “I care deeply about winning and I give everything for this badge,” Fernandes said.
Fernandes is under contract until 2027, with an option for another year. He dismissed rumours about leaving the club. He also confirmed he will not talk about his future until after the World Cup next year. “If there’s been any plan for me to leave, it wasn’t made with me. I feel good here. I want to achieve my dreams,” he said.
As Fernandes approaches his milestone 300th game, the message is clear. Despite big offers elsewhere, his focus remains on Manchester United. Fans can be sure their captain is fully committed. He is driven not by money, but by the dream of winning trophies and bringing glory back to Old Trafford.
