K24, People Daily and Milele Fm Send Their Staff Packing

Media Max Network which is home of K24, Milele Fm, People Daily among other  radio stations  has started its restructuring process, which has since seen some of its big names exit the station  over the last two days after being retrenched.

Some of the big names who had to leave the station included Purity Mwambia a reporter with K24, Soni Kanake, a TV talk show host,  business editor Solomon Kirimi, senior reporter Janet Chapia, Chris Thairu, Dancun Khaemba, Geoffrey Wachira, Wycliffe Orandi and Anders Ihachi, all from the broadcast department.

The newspaper staff were also not spared and among those laid off  from the print department were Eric Nyakagwa (political editor), Kamau Ngotho (special projects editor) and Millicent Muthoni (Magazines Editor).

Some of the Sub editors and news reporters that were also retrenched from the newspaper on the basis of redundancy included Rebecca Nandwa (sub editor)  formerly from the Nation Media Group, Robert Onsare (sub editor) and Rose Wanjiku (sub editor), Wanjohi Githae (Parliament news reporter), Maureen Ng’ang’a (news reporter)  Pocyline Karani and Racheal Mburu (court reporter).

Milele FM is said to have suffered the deepest and certainly most painful cut with some of its main presenters being sacked. The big names who have left the popular radio station are Margaret Waithera aka Mtoto Wakike , Titi Nagwala and Sande Bush, known by his comedian name Dr Ofweneke.

The list of those to be issued with letters is still anticipated to grow.
