The Matatu Welfare Association has issued threats to stage a nation wide strike following the suspension of Embassavo sacco by the National Transport and Safety Authourity (NTSA) after the ghastly road accident by one of their vehicles.
During the press conferences in Nairobi yesterday the matatu association chairman Dickson Mbugua condemned NTSA for the ban issued to the entire sacco saying that it is not mandated to issue the ban.
They are schedule to stage their protest in July 1st starting from Uhuru park where they will all assemble as they wait for a directive from the higher authority.
In response to the threats the Director General Francis Meja while addressing the press at the NTSA headquarters cautioned matatu operators who are planning to be part on the protest to be ready to exit the industry.
Meja further condemned the claims saying they are aimed at bringing reforms in the matatu sector.
