According to a family statement, Lui’s body will be transferred from Nakuru to Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi on Saturday. A prayer meeting is scheduled for Sunday at the family home from 2pm. On Monday, friends and relatives will attend a viewing and prayer service at Lee Funeral Home. The cortege will then proceed to Kariokor Crematorium. A short service will be held there, with the exact cremation time to be confirmed later.

President William Ruto described Lui as “a dedicated public servant, a veteran broadcaster and a respected State Master of Ceremonies whose voice became part of Kenya’s national identity.” Ruto praised his professionalism, humility and unwavering commitment to excellence.
Sammy Lui’s career began at the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC), where he emerged as one of Kenya’s pioneering journalists. He later joined the Presidential Press Service and eventually became Director of State Events. Over decades, he served the public with distinction, ensuring major ceremonies were conducted with precision and dignity. Colleagues recall his calm demeanor, eloquence and authoritative presence during state functions, which earned him national admiration.
