The road to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics has taken a thrilling turn for Kenya’s top golfers as the PGK Equator Tour moves to the scenic Diamonds Leisure Golf Resort in Diani, Kwale County. The sixth leg of the tour, running from Thursday to Sunday, October 26, brings together over 40 professional golfers battling for crucial Olympic qualification and world ranking points.

Muthaiga’s Greg Snow leads the overall standings, with Daniel Nduva, Dismas Indiza and Samuel Njoroge hot on his heels. Each round now carries added pressure as players fight not just for prize money, but for a chance to represent Kenya on the grandest stage of all the Olympics.
Safaricom-sponsored golfers Samuel Njoroge, Mohit Mediratta, Mutahi Kibugu, and Matthew Wahome headline the Diani showdown, all hoping to deliver career-defining performances. For Njoroge, consistency and confidence remain key.
“The Nakuru event was a great test – I came second, just two points behind Indiza,” he said. “Now I’m focused on staying sharp and keeping my rhythm. Diani’s course is stunning and I’ll give everything to finish on top.”
This Diani stop follows competitive legs at Ruiru Sports Club, Limuru Country Club, Mt. Kipipiri Golf Resort, Great Rift Valley Lodge and Nakuru Golf Club. Each course has presented different challenges, helping Kenya’s golfers build the resilience needed for the global stage.
Since its launch, the PGK Equator Tour has become a cornerstone of Kenyan professional golf, offering a consistent platform for local players to sharpen their game, earn ranking points and prepare for elite tournaments such as the Magical Kenya Open.
Corporate sponsorship has been instrumental in sustaining the tour’s momentum. Safaricom’s KSh 3 million investment over three years continues to play a vital role in supporting four professional golfers, enhancing Kenya’s visibility in global golf and nurturing future champions.
As the action unfolds in Diani, one thing is clear – Kenya’s golfers are not just chasing trophies; they are chasing history, one swing at a time.
