Luxury Turned Loot: Armed Gang Strips KSh 35 Million Lexus in Kirinyaga Night Raid

A quiet village in Kirinyaga Central is struggling to come to terms with a calculated night attack that left a high-end vehicle reduced to shells. In Kiamuthambi, criminals stormed the home of businesswoman Rose Muriuki and methodically dismantled her Lexus, estimated to be worth KSh 35 million.

According to relatives, the attackers arrived shortly after midnight in two vehicles. They were many. More than 20, by some accounts. They first confronted the night guard, Anthony Namanda. He was subdued and restrained before he could alert anyone inside the compound.

The gang then forced entry into the residence. Muriuki and a female companion were asleep. The suspects allegedly sprayed a substance into the bedroom, causing the two women to lose consciousness. With no resistance, the intruders focused on their main target parked within the homestead.

What followed has baffled residents. The Lexus was not stolen whole. Instead, it was carefully stripped of valuable spare parts. The operation reportedly lasted several hours. By the time the criminals left, critical components had been removed.

The victims only realized something was wrong after regaining consciousness in hospital later that morning. It was then that the scale of the loss became clear.

Family members describe the theft as highly coordinated. They believe the perpetrators were experienced and possibly specialized in high-end vehicle parts. The precision of the operation has fueled suspicions that the gang was familiar with luxury models and their resale value.

The incident has shaken the wider community. Kiamuthambi is not known for such organized crime. Residents now fear that sophisticated criminal networks may be targeting rural areas.

Police officers and detectives have since examined the scene. Investigations are underway as authorities seek to identify those responsible.

For Muriuki’s family, the attack has left more than financial damage. It has shattered their sense of security. In a village once considered peaceful, residents are now locking their gates a little tighter.
