The family of Beryl Achieng’, sister of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, has announced her burial plans. She passed away on November 25 at Nairobi Hospital while undergoing cancer treatment. Her death comes just weeks after the burial of her brother. Her body was taken to Lee Funeral Home for the necessary procedures before the burial.

Raila Odinga Junior, son of the late ODM leader, said Achieng’ will be laid to rest on Saturday, December 6, at Kang’o Ka Jaramogi. A fundraiser will take place on Tuesday, December 2, at the United Kenya Club from 5pm. A memorial service will follow on Wednesday, December 3, at 9am at the Consolata Shrine, Westlands. Contributions can be sent via Pay Bill No. 8002413, Account Name: “Beryl Odinga.”
Before her death, Achieng’ had a long and distinguished career. She was an advocate of the High Court of Kenya. She held senior roles in Kenya and Zimbabwe. She became the first African town clerk in independent Zimbabwe. In Kenya, she lectured at the Kenya School of Law. She also served as chairperson of Athi Water, vice chairperson of Nairobi Water and chairperson of the Kenya Railway Pension Scheme.
Her death has drawn tributes from colleagues, friends and the public. Many praised her dedication to public service and her role as a trailblazer for women. Social media users also expressed condolences. They highlighted her impact on law, governance and civic reforms.
The Odinga family continues to honor her legacy. The funeral plans allow friends, family and Kenyans to pay their respects. The services reflect her life’s work, courage and commitment to the country.
