Parents Storm St Thomas Raganga Secondary in Kisii After Shocking 2025 KCSE Results Expose Years of Academic Failure

Anger and disbelief erupted at St Thomas Raganga Secondary School in Kisii County. The 2025 KCSE results exposed years of poor performance. While other schools celebrated, parents and residents descended on the school. They accused the leadership of failing students. They demanded urgent government action.

The school’s performance stunned the community. Not a single student qualified for university. The best-performing candidate scored a plain D. Most others scored D minus or E. The mean score was 2.235. Parents said the results confirmed long-standing fears about weak standards.

Angry parents and residents marched into the school compound in Kitutu Chache South. Some carried twigs. They forced Principal Cyrus Wanyonyi out. They padlocked his office, shutting down administration. Parents accused the school of letting students reach Form Four without completing the syllabus. They chanted slogans demanding the principal’s removal.

Parents said they had sacrificed heavily to educate their children. They paid fees and bought uniforms and essentials. Sabina Moraa broke down. She said her child had not learned basic content. Naomi Kerubo said her first child scored a plain D. Her second child scored the same in 2025. Parents feared their children would face the same hardships.

Tensions rose as teachers fled the school. They feared for their safety. Local leaders joined parents in calling for urgent intervention. Bogusero Ward MCA Vincent Abuga said only five students scored a plain D. The rest got D minus or E. He called the results a deep institutional failure.

Residents demanded immediate intervention from Education CS Julius Migos Ogamba. They said the crisis reflected long-standing neglect. Some parents asked how students who performed well in primary ended up with failing grades in secondary school.

The Ministry of Education said many candidates passed in 2025. But poor performance remains widespread. Over 357,000 students scored D plain or below nationwide. At Raganga, parents demand accountability. They want urgent reform. They want their children’s education protected.
