Pastor James Ng’ang’a and Bishop Margaret Wanjiru’s Churches to Be Demolished in 7 Days for Nairobi Railway City Project

Kenya Railways Corporation has issued a seven-day demolition notice. The warning targets several properties in central Nairobi. Churches linked to Pastor James Ng’ang’a and Bishop Margaret Wanjiru are among them. The move comes as the State clears land for the KSh28 billion Nairobi Railway City project.

The affected properties lie along Haile Selassie Avenue, Uhuru Highway, and Bunyala Road. Neno Evangelism Centre, associated with Pastor Ng’ang’a, is listed. Bishop Margaret Wanjiru’s Jesus Is Alive Ministries (JIAM) is also flagged. Other targets include a stalled construction site and two petrol stations within the same area. Kenya Railways says reclaiming these properties is essential for the project.

Managing Director Philip Mainga signed the notice. He described the occupants as “unauthorised persons.” He gave them seven days to vacate. The notice warns that any remaining structures will be removed or demolished at the owners’ cost. Kenya Railways will take full possession once the deadline ends.

The Nairobi Railway City project aims to transform Nairobi’s transport and business landscape. It will create offices, transport hubs, and recreational spaces. Officials say it will generate jobs and boost trade. Clearing the current buildings is a vital first step before construction can begin.

Affected churches and businesses now face urgent relocation. Some may struggle to find alternative spaces in time. Kenya Railways insists the project will benefit Nairobi in the long term. However, the short notice has sparked concern among the property owners.

The coming week will be critical. How the churches and other occupants respond will determine if the demolition proceeds smoothly. Kenya Railways has stated it is ready to enforce the notice. The seven-day countdown has begun, and Nairobi’s iconic Railway City project is set to move forward.
