Police Officer Arrested Over Violent Robberies in Bondo and Kisumu Captured on CCTV

A police officer has been arrested after CCTV footage linked him to violent robberies in Bondo, Siaya County.

The suspect, identified as Mark Owino, was taken into custody at his station in Holo, Kisumu County. Reports say he had returned to day-duty after allegedly committing multiple night-time robberies.

In one incident, Owino and an accomplice stormed a shop in Bondo, Siaya County. They forced customers to lie on the ground. The duo broke into the shop and terrorized the owner. Cash and valuables were stolen. The exact amount is still under investigation.

Hours later, another video emerged showing Owino wielding an AK-47 while robbing people at a liquor joint in Kisumu County. The footage quickly went viral and caused public outrage.

Authorities at Bondo Police Station filed a report after seeing the CCTV clips. Police moved fast to arrest Owino. He is now in custody as investigations continue.

Owino is expected to appear in court on Monday, January 9, 2026. He will face charges of robbery with violence. Police say the probe is ongoing and other accomplices will be pursued.

The case has shocked communities in Siaya and Kisumu. Residents expressed disbelief that a serving officer could commit such violent crimes. The incidents have raised questions about police accountability and oversight.

Officials say they are reviewing other CCTV footage to see if Owino was involved in more crimes. They have promised strict action against officers who abuse their authority.

This arrest highlights growing concerns about misconduct within the police force. Citizens are calling for better vetting, stronger oversight, and swift justice for law enforcement officers who break the law.

As investigations continue, the public hopes this case will serve as a warning. Authorities aim to restore trust and ensure that no officer is above the law.
