President Barack Obama and Pope Francis met for the first time on Thursday in the Vatican. After a ceremonial procession, the two influential leaders sat across from each other and spoke through interpreters.
The room was cleared and the leaders spoke privately about such issues as income inequality, religious freedom, human trafficking and the crises in Syria and Ukraine.
