President Ruto Fires at Kalonzo Over Kibwezi Road: “You Haven’t Built Roads to Your Home, How Can You Deliver Development to Kenyans?”

President William Ruto escalated his feud with former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka on Tuesday. The tension began over the weekend when Ruto criticized Kalonzo’s authority on national development.

At an event in Turkana County, Ruto laid the foundation for a student hostel at Turkana University. He questioned Kalonzo’s achievements in leadership. He argued that forty years in politics have produced little progress. He said a leader must show results. Ruto noted that Kalonzo cannot even build a road in his home area.

The President also challenged Kalonzo’s claim of launching the Kibwezi-Bondoni road. Ruto said the project started during the 2013-2017 administration, when he served as Deputy President with former President Uhuru Kenyatta. He insisted that facts and evidence back his claims.

Ruto highlighted his own development agenda. He spoke of lifting 10 million Kenyans out of poverty. He mentioned the National Infrastructure Fund and the Sovereign Wealth Fund. These, he said, will bridge the wealth gap. He announced a KSh 5 trillion project for national development over the next ten years.

Ruto painted himself as a results-driven leader. He contrasted his tangible achievements with what he called Kalonzo’s limited record. He positioned himself as focused on impact rather than words.

The public feud has captured national attention. Analysts say both leaders are shaping their positions ahead of the 2027 elections. Ruto wants to show leadership credibility. Kalonzo seeks strategic influence.

This war of words reflects a deeper contest for political relevance. Kenyans are watching closely. The battle is not just about politics but development. The country will judge who can deliver real change.
