President Ruto to Launch Second Phase of NYOTA Project in Eldoret, Empowering 50,000 Youth in Entrepreneurship

President William Ruto will launch the second phase of the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) Project in Eldoret today. The program aims to empower youth through entrepreneurship. It also serves as a disbursement exercise for the first batch of successful participants.

The Ministry of Cooperatives says about 50,000 young Kenyans will benefit. Each participant will receive Ksh 22,000 in their NYOTA mobile wallets. An additional Ksh 3,000 will go to their NSSF savings accounts. The support is designed to help youth start businesses while saving for the future.

The disbursement will take place in several counties. Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Trans-Nzoia, Turkana, and West Pokot will receive funds first. Nakuru will host events on January 9 and 12 for Nakuru, Narok, Bomet, Kericho, Baringo, Laikipia, Isiolo, and Samburu counties. The staggered schedule ensures smooth and organized distribution.

The NYOTA Project, launched in 2025, provides both funds and mentorship. It seeks to reduce youth unemployment and promote local economic growth. By linking funds to NSSF contributions, the program encourages saving and long-term financial security.

President Ruto has said the government is committed to empowering young Kenyans. The NYOTA Project is a practical step toward this goal. It allows youth to turn ideas into businesses. Officials expect the initiative to create jobs and boost innovation.

As the Eldoret launch begins, thousands of young entrepreneurs will receive support. The project has already drawn national attention. Upcoming disbursements in Nakuru and other counties will expand its impact. NYOTA continues to promote youth development and economic empowerment across Kenya.
