Ruto Targets Landslide 2027 Win, Seeks ODM Coalition to Secure 3 Million Vote Margin

President William Ruto has set his sights on a landslide win in the 2027 General Election. He says he wants to win by between two and three million votes. He believes this will give him a strong national mandate. He also wants to unite the country through a broad political coalition, including a possible alliance with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

Ruto spoke on Monday at State House, Nairobi. He addressed the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) National Governing Council. He said his government is focused on expanding its political base. He stressed that unity remains a key priority. “In the coming election, we want to win by a margin of between two and three million. This will help us unite the country. In the last election, we won by only 200,000 votes,” Ruto said.

The president praised the broad-based government. He said the partnership with ODM has worked. He said it has helped stabilise the country. He also praised senior leaders serving in government. He mentioned Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi. He said discussions are already ongoing with ODM. He said the aim is to form a coalition before 2027. He added that such a move would strengthen political stability and support development.

Ruto also called for the fast implementation of the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report. He urged both Houses of Parliament to act quickly. He said the reforms are important for national harmony. He said they will also restore trust in democratic institutions. He insisted that dialogue remains the best path forward.

The president then turned to party politics. He told UDA to strengthen its grassroots structures. He ordered repeat party elections in areas with low turnout. “Any polling centre where fewer than 50 people voted must repeat. Strong parties start at the grassroots,” he said. He also said party nominations will be fully controlled by the party. He said this will prevent disputes and chaos.

On the economy, Ruto expressed confidence about Kenya’s future. He said the country can become a first-world economy within 30 years. He said reforms must continue. He also announced plans to list the Kenya Pipeline Company. He said Kenyans will be allowed to buy shares. He said the move will expand public ownership. He said it will also deepen citizen participation in key state enterprises.
