“Tell Your Goalkeeper to Wear Gloves!” – Kenyans Flood Gambia FA Page Before Starlets Showdown

Kenyans have once again turned social media into their home turf,  this time storming the Gambia Football Federation’s Facebook page ahead of the Harambee Starlets’ decisive second-leg clash. The high-stakes match, set for Tuesday night in Thies, Senegal will determine who qualifies for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

After Kenya’s 3 – 1 win in the first leg, confidence is sky-high. Fans are certain the Starlets will seal the deal and have expressed it loudly online  through witty banter, bold warnings and endless support. The comment section of the Gambian FA page has turned into a field of humor and national pride.

“Tell your goalkeeper to wear gloves this time, we’re not playing friendly football,” one fan declared. Another teased, “We’re already booking hotels in Morocco.”

The Harambee Starlets, however, are keeping their focus sharp. Head coach Beldine Odemba says her players are motivated and ready for the challenge. “We respect Gambia, but we’re here to win. The girls are prepared and determined,” she said before the trip.

This moment has reignited excitement around women’s football in Kenya. The Starlets’ run has not only united fans but also spotlighted the need for greater investment in women’s sports. The team’s hunger for victory has become a source of national pride and inspiration.

As the countdown to kickoff continues, Kenyans everywhere are rallying behind their girls. Whether in the stands, online or from home, one message is loud and clear –  the Starlets are not just playing for qualification; they’re playing for Kenya’s name in continental glory.
