A shocking incident in Ojelo village, Rarieda sub-county, left the community in grief after a 31-year-old man allegedly killed his six-year-old nephew. Denis Ouma Nyahinda is accused of hacking Tyron Onyango on the head and neck with a panga, killing him instantly. Residents describe the attack as brutal and completely unexpected.

The tragedy reportedly unfolded during the holiday season when Tyron had gone to visit his grandmother. According to local resident Wycliffe Odiango, the children were playing when Ouma allegedly asked them to stop making noise. When they continued, the suspect reportedly grabbed a panga, chased Tyron to his grandmother’s house, and struck him fatally. Witnesses said the attack was sudden, leaving the family and neighbors in shock.
Security personnel were alerted and rushed to the scene. They confirmed the boy was dead and transferred his body to Bondo sub-county hospital mortuary, where it awaits postmortem examination. The gruesome killing has sparked fear and outrage in the community, with many struggling to comprehend what triggered such extreme violence.
Chief Odiango confirmed that Denis Ouma Nyahinda was arrested and taken to Aram Police Station, where he remains in custody as investigations continue. The chief urged the public to manage anger and resolve disputes peacefully to avoid unnecessary loss of life. “The suspect is in custody, and investigations are ongoing. People should control anger and prevent tragedies,” he said.
Residents expressed deep sorrow, describing Tyron as a playful and cheerful child whose life was cruelly cut short. The incident has raised concerns about rising domestic violence and the dangers of unchecked anger. Authorities have promised a thorough investigation to ensure justice is served and to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
As the investigation unfolds, questions remain about the motive and circumstances surrounding the attack. Tyron’s family and the wider community now await answers, hoping that the law will swiftly provide clarity and accountability for this horrifying act.
