British boxing star Anthony Joshua has been hospitalised after a fatal road accident in Nigeria. The crash occurred on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway. Two of his close friends lost their lives. The incident has cast a dark shadow over the festive season.

Reports indicate that Joshua was a passenger in the vehicle. He sustained injuries and was taken to hospital. Nigerian President Bola Tinubu later confirmed the accident. He said he had spoken to Joshua and his family. He described the tragedy as painful and deeply upsetting.
The victims were identified as Kevin Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami. Both were close associates of the boxer. Tinubu said their deaths turned a joyful period into one of mourning. He noted that Joshua now carries a heavy emotional burden.

The president also spoke with Joshua’s mother. He offered prayers and reassurance. Governor Dapo Abiodun, who was at the hospital, promised full support. He assured the president that Joshua would receive the best treatment.
