US President Donald Trump warned Iran that Washington could take “very strong action” if the country executes protesters. His remarks come amid international outrage over Tehran’s deadly crackdown. Rights groups say thousands may have died.

Trump said the United States is closely watching reports of hangings linked to the protests. He accused Iran of killing civilians and said executions would cross a dangerous line. He did not say exactly what action the US might take.
Iran rejected Trump’s warning. Its UN mission called it political pressure. Officials accused Washington of using human rights as a cover for military intervention. Tehran said the government has restored order after nationwide protests.
The demonstrations erupted last week. They are one of the biggest challenges to Iran’s clerical leadership in years. Security forces reportedly used lethal force. Rights groups also accuse Tehran of hiding the scale of the violence. A prolonged internet blackout has blocked information.
Iranian prosecutors said some detainees face capital charges. They are accused of “moharebeh,” or waging war against God, punishable by death. Trump said the US would respond if executions occur. He earlier urged Iranians to keep protesting, claiming “help is on its way.”
International pressure is growing. France, Germany, and the UK summoned Iranian ambassadors. The EU warned of more sanctions. Ursula von der Leyen described the rising death toll as “horrifying.”
Iran Human Rights reported hundreds killed but said the real number may be much higher. Many deaths are unconfirmed. Some protesters were sentenced to death within days of arrest.
Iranian authorities say dozens of security personnel were killed. They announced mass funerals for the so-called martyrs. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei said the protests were defeated. Pro-government rallies were held to show control.
Analysts warn the unrest is a serious challenge. Tehran still controls strong security forces. But the protests show deep public anger and growing political pressure on the leadership.
