“We Will Honour Raila Odinga’s Legacy” – UDA Vows Full Implementation of Coalition Agenda

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has reaffirmed its commitment to the coalition with ODM. The party promised to fully implement the Memorandum of Understanding. This includes the 10-point agenda agreed with the late Raila Odinga.

Speaking during a delegates’ meeting in Vihiga, UDA Secretary-General Hassan Omar said the party will honour every agreement. He highlighted the NADCO report and the broad-based government arrangement.

“We in UDA will ensure that we honour Raila Odinga’s commitment, that all the agreements;  word for word; that he reached with President William Ruto are implemented. It is the best honour we can give the fallen hero, Raila Odinga,” he said.

Omar added that the coalition will push forward with the proposed governance structure. They aim to strengthen the economy and implement every recommendation from the NADCO report and 10-point agenda.

He stressed that UDA and ODM will work together to achieve the late leader’s vision. “We as UDA and ODM will work together to ensure the goal is achieved. It was Baba’s wish that we unite,” he said.

The meeting also focused on the upcoming Malava by-election. Lamu Governor Issa Timamy urged the Luhya community to back the UDA candidate. He said the vote will shape politics ahead of the 2027 General Election.

“This vote is very crucial for the Western region and for Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi. It is important for the seat to be won by UDA. Even if they combine forces, they cannot defeat us,” he said.

Host MP Omboko Milemba, who is also UDA’s deputy secretary-general, said the meeting aimed to strengthen the party at the grassroots. He added that the gathering was an opportunity to unite leaders and consolidate structures. “This meeting was meant to bring UDA leaders closer to the grassroots. We have not had a better opportunity than this to meet with our leaders,” Milemba said.

As the by-election approaches, UDA leaders reaffirmed their focus. They aim to honour agreements, consolidate the coalition, and promote unity. The party is determined to maintain momentum and deliver on promises made with Raila Odinga.
