The Democratic Action Party–Kenya (DAP-K) moved quickly to contain confusion after a fake notice went viral online. The document claimed the party had expelled Eugene Wamalwa and Eseli Simiyu. It also alleged that George Natembeya had taken over as interim party leader. Its official format and legal references made it look real. The notice spread fast on social media, sparking questions about internal tensions.

The forged message referenced a supposed emergency NEC meeting held on November 12, 2025. It listed Ayub Savula as senior deputy party leader and Seth Kuka Panyako as secretary general. The notice even called on the Registrar of Political Parties to update records. Many people believed it at first. This added to speculation about disputes within the party.
DAP-K acted fast. The party reposted the notice with a bold red “FAKE” stamp. This clear warning told the public to ignore the document. Party officials said the timing was no coincidence. They linked the fake notice to the ongoing Malava by-election. The seat became vacant after the death of MP Malulu Injendi. Seth Panyako, whose name appeared in the forged notice, is running for the seat. Leaders said the document aimed to distract the party and confuse voters.
A senior DAP-K official said, “When lies start moving faster than the truth, you know someone is scared of the ballot.” The remark reflected the party’s determination to stay focused. Officials stressed that no NEC meeting took place. No leadership changes were made. They urged supporters to rely only on official announcements.
The party added that the fake notice was a deliberate attempt to disrupt its campaign. It warned against misinformation and called for unity. DAP-K emphasized it would not allow distractions to derail its strategy in Malava. The party concluded with a firm reminder: “Eyes on the Malava ball. No sideshows.”
As the by-election draws near, DAP-K continues to mobilize supporters. It aims to maintain unity, counter fake news, and focus on winning the seat. The party says it will not be shaken by rumours or false claims.
