Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga has received strong support from Migori Woman Representative Fatuma Full Network. She condemned repeated attacks from UDA politician Odoyo Owidi. The clash arose over a memorial service for the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, held two weeks after his burial. Owidi opposed the event, saying the county faced urgent issues. He suggested a yearly memorial instead. He also accused Wanga of mismanaging funds and prioritising entertainment over governance.

On Wednesday, November 5, at Raila Odinga Stadium, MP Fatuma spoke passionately in defense of Wanga. She praised Raila’s role in Wanga’s political rise. “Raila’s death cannot be compared with any other. Wanga became Homa Bay Governor because of Raila, not by herself,” she said. Fatuma called Owidi’s attacks unfair and disrespectful to both Wanga and Raila’s legacy.
Fatuma directly warned Owidi of consequences if he continued. She questioned his intentions and referenced Wanga’s marital status. “If you keep confronting her, her husband will be forced to respond. When you insult Wanga, you insult Raila in his death,” she said. She also mentioned Senator Oburu Oginga’s influence, hinting that interference could have serious repercussions.
The MP urged political players to respect the mourning period. She asked them not to politicise Raila’s death. She stressed that Wanga remains focused on serving Homa Bay residents. Critics, she said, should show restraint. Fatuma’s remarks highlighted the emotional and political sensitivity around Raila’s passing. They sent a strong message that loyalty and respect are crucial in leadership.
By defending Wanga, Fatuma positioned herself as a protector of both the governor and Raila Odinga’s legacy. The clash shows ongoing political tensions in Homa Bay. Alliances, leadership and public perception continue to shape the county’s political landscape.
