“Why Is Ruto Visiting Luos Every Day?” – TikToker Nyako Questions Frequent Nyanza Tours, Criticizes Local Leadership

Germany-based Kenyan TikToker Nyako has sparked debate. She questioned President William Ruto’s frequent visits to Nyanza since former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s death. Nyako argued the tours are politically motivated. Meanwhile, the region still faces development challenges under local leadership.

Nyako claimed Raila Odinga’s family has long dominated Nyanza. She said residents have been “in shackles.” She argued the region needs new leadership to drive development. Speaking during the Genowa Cup football match in Homa Bay, she urged citizens to rethink who governs them.

She also questioned why Ruto focuses on Nyanza while other regions are overlooked. “The moment you say you are tired of this family is the moment you will start developing. Why is Ruto visiting Luos every day? What gold is in Nyanza that he is seeking daily? He is seeking your votes, and once he gets them, you will not see him again,” Nyako said.

Nyako criticized Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga and Raila’s wife Ida Odinga. She argued they have failed to meet citizens’ needs. She stressed her concern is not Ruto’s presidency but the struggles of ordinary Kenyans. “We do not have a problem with Ruto going back to office. I have a problem with what the common mwananchi is experiencing now and in the coming years. We cannot say we are doing well when we are not doing well as a country,” she said.

Her statements have drawn mixed reactions online. Supporters praised her call for accountability and development-focused leadership. Critics accused her of politicizing a sensitive period. Her comments reignited debates on governance, regional development and voter influence in historically underdeveloped areas.
