A life Remembered: Kenya Mourns Gospel Singer Betty Bayo

The nation is mourning gospel singer Betty Bayo. She passed away today between 1 pm and 3 pm at Kenyatta National Hospital. Betty had been battling Acute Mild Leukemia. She had been unwell since last week.

She was first admitted to AAR Hospital. On Friday, she was transferred to Kenyatta National Hospital. Doctors tried their best to save her. Sadly, her family says, “The will of God has prevailed.”

Betty faced severe complications from leukemia, including heavy bleeding. Friends and family remember her as warm, resilient and full of life. Plans are now underway to move her body to KU Referral Hospital. Details of memorial arrangements will follow. Her loved ones said, “May our dear friend rest in peace. We loved you, but God loved you more.”

Betty Bayo was more than a singer. She was known for her hit song “11th Hour”. She inspired many with her honesty and faith. Betty often spoke about life lessons and the importance of self-worth.

She was in a relationship with Pastor Victor Kanyari, with whom she has children. Later, she married Hiram Gitau, known as Tash, in a traditional ceremony. Betty often spoke about learning from past mistakes. She valued respect, love and faith in her relationships.

Her music and life story touched many Kenyans. She encouraged people to be authentic and resilient. Betty was a role model to fans and friends alike.
