Are Gen Z Kenyans Embracing LGBTQ+ Inclusivity?

The West has embraced inclusivity and has pushed the agenda to Hollywood, schools, churches and even the offices. Africa on the other hand has had a difficult time embracing the LGBTQ+ agenda.

Content creator Georgina Njenga has been making headlines ever since she was spotted with Mr. Seed which turned out to be a promotion for his music video which she featured in. She also made headlines when she claimed her body count is refreshed weekly.

This time around, Georgina has caused commotion online with a video she posted. In the video she was lip synching to a song by Alikiba with her female friend. The commotion came when the shared a fish kiss.

Kenyans flooded her comments with mixed reactions. Others siting that it was wrong for her to be kissing other women due to the fact that she was a mother. They accused her of misleading her young female followers.

Others however felt that there was nothing wrong with women showing each other affection through kissing. Pointing out that men kissing would bring a different conversation and would not have been acceptable.

Kenyan content creators especially the men have embraced cross-dressing as part of their brand. Kevin Kinuthia being one of them. He has expressed that even though he goes to the extent of wearing bikinis, that is purely a brand strategy.

Nigerian trans Okuneye Idris (Bob Risky) has who underwent surgery to have female features shared on his Instagram story that he was expecting that one day he would be able to conceive a child through a miracle.

One of Sauti Sol sensation singer, Chimano has been public about his preference to date men and has been received positively with his audience. Women like Maken Njeri have also been open with their status.
