Kenya Railways will run extra Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) trains this weekend. The move is meant to handle the rising number of passengers. The additional trips are set for Friday, November 14 and Saturday, November 15.

On Friday, a train will leave Mombasa at 9:45 a.m. It will stop in Voi for five minutes at 11:20 a.m. The train will continue to Nairobi, arriving at 3:48 p.m. Kenya Railways said the extra service will reduce congestion and give travelers more options.
On Saturday, another train will depart Nairobi at 9:45 a.m. It will also stop in Voi for five minutes before arriving in Mombasa at 3:36 p.m. Officials said the additional trips respond to high weekend demand.
The SGR currently runs three daily trips between Nairobi and Mombasa. The inter-county train leaves Nairobi at 8:00 a.m. It stops at Mtito Andei, Voi, Emali, Kibwezi, and Mariakani. This service is suitable for passengers traveling to smaller towns along the route.
The express train departs Nairobi at 3:00 p.m. It stops only once in Voi before heading directly to Mombasa. The night express leaves Nairobi at 10:00 p.m. It follows an express route and reaches Mombasa at 3:35 a.m. Overnight travelers use this service for a comfortable journey.
Kenya Railways said the extra trips show its commitment to better passenger services. The corporation said the SGR is popular because it is reliable, comfortable, and cheaper than road transport.
Passengers are advised to book early to secure seats on both regular and extra trains. By adding these trips, Kenya Railways hopes to reduce overcrowding and ensure smoother travel. Officials said they will continue monitoring demand and adjust services accordingly.
The extra trains are expected to help thousands of travelers reach their destinations efficiently. Kenya Railways promised to maintain high standards and provide timely services for all passengers.
