Seven Arrested Over Church Chaos During Gachagua’s Kariobangi North Visit

The National Police Service (NPS) has arrested seven suspects after violence erupted at Kariobangi North PCEA Church on Sunday, November 30. The incident happened during a thanksgiving ceremony for newly elected Kariobangi North MCA, David Warui. Police traced the suspects to the Lucky Summer area. Investigations are ongoing.

Tensions flared inside the church while former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua attended. Two opposing youth groups shouted at each other. Police tried to calm the situation. When that failed, they fired warning shots and used teargas to restore order.

Gachagua accused President William Ruto and Nairobi Governo Johnson Sakaja of sending goons and police to disrupt the service. The claim has raised political tensions.

The Nairobi Regional Police Commander and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) launched a separate probe. They want to identify the instigators and hold them accountable. The incident shows the challenges of political gatherings.

NPS emphasized the need to maintain law and order. The church community and locals expressed shock. They called for peaceful conduct in future events.Authorities urge citizens to cooperate and avoid spreading false information. NPS said public safety is a top priority. All suspects linked to the chaos will face the law.

The event underscores the delicate balance between political activities and community safety. Law enforcement remains key in preventing violence at high-profile events.
