Ababu Namwamba and Meg Whitman Advocate For The Grammy Awards To Be Hosted In Kenya

Kenya has been taking the entertainment industry by storm over the past few years. More and more artists and actors are getting global recognition. Kenyan creatives have been featured on various global platforms.

Artists like Bien and Brandy are featured in the American Colors X Studio, and actors like Edi Gathegi have joined brands like DC and will now be part of the Justice League. Elsa Majimbo is on major magazine covers and Genge Tone is now a category in the Grammy Awards.

In this year’s Grammy Awards, Africa was appreciated through Tyla winning the new African category and Afro Beat star, Burna Boy being one of the performers. Representing Kenya was our very own Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba who was seen with Elsa Majimbo.

According to Ababu Namwamba, the Kenyan entertainment and creative industry is growing and getting global recognition. He said that he went to LA to start collaborations and champion Kenya’s creative industry which includes bringing the Grammy’s to Kenya.

The United States Ambassador to Kenya, Meg White also shared her sentiments on having the Grammys hosted in Kenya. This is after she pointed out that the Grammy’s is a very important event to Americans.

The ambassador pointed out that the Latin Grammys was started ten years ago is now as big as the American Grammys. She went on to state that the Grammy Awards announced that there will be the African Grammys.

Meg mentioned that their four founding countries in Africa, Kenya being one of them, Nigeria as well. She went on to mention that there is a battle royale on who is going to get the headquarters of the Grammys. Meg then went on to say she wants Nairobi to be the Grammy headquarters.
