It started with a film, but was inspired by a young woman named Eunice. In 2010, Nikole traveled to Kenya to film her senior thesis film, While Women Weep—highlighting stories of women who have overcome adversity and are inspiring their communities.
Marion met Nikole during that time, coordinating logistics for the production of the film. As they traveled throughout Kenya together, they learned about the issues prevalent in slum communities surrounding women. They heard story after story of women that lacked educational opportunities were more vulnerable to sexual violence.
You are invited to join Freely In Hope organisation on International Day of the Girl at their official launch as they celebrate five years of providing holistic educational opportunities for survivors of sexual violence in Kenya.
”Together let us fight against sexual violence as we transform communities from oppression into freedom, leveraging stories of dignity, and celebrating the dreams of the young women we serve! We will be sharing stories of hope from Freely in Hope scholars to learn how they have overcome adversity and are achieving their academic dreams.” Nikole Lim, Co-Founder of Freely in Hope.
This is a free event to celebrate our stories together! Lunch provided.
Months later, she gave birth to a son, Eugene, and when she looked into his eyes, all of her problems seemed to disappear.
