Sometimes Christmas miracles come in the form of the latest advances in science. Ken Stehle was deaf for over 50 years, but his new hearing aid, a technology only available for 12 months, has opened his ears to the world. He’s discovered everyday sounds like the jingle of car keys and the tap of his own footsteps.
This past Sunday, he heard, for the first time, his 15-year-old daughter Ashley sing during a recital of a High School’s advanced show choir. And to mark the occasion, Ashley had a surprise for her father.
She stepped onstage for her first-ever solo, which wasn’t listed on the program, and sang “Daddy, Please Come Home for Christmas” for an audience of one. Ken closed his eyes and just listened, later describing the experience as “amazing.”
