BET announced the nominees for the 2014 BET Awards, spanning 20 categories as selected by the network’s voting academy. This year’s nominees represented the best of the culture and were nominated by BET Awards nomination committee.
Under the gospel artiste of the year category the following artistes were nominated
Best Gospel Artist
Donnie McClurkin
Gospel great Donnie McClurkin is no stranger to garnering acclaim for his work as a singer and composer of gospel music. This year, he nabs a nomination for Best Gospel Artist.
Erica Campbell
After a long run with Mary Mary, Erica Campbell is flying solo. Her debut album, Help, featured the hits “A Little More Jesus” and “Help” featuring Lecrae, proving she has what it takes both in a group setting and on her own.
Hezekiah Walker
Praise and worship hitmaker Hezekiah Walker continued his winning streak by producing songs that minister to the masses and become congregation favorites at churches across the nation.
Tamela Mann
Her show-stopping performance of “Take Me to the King” at the 2013 BET Awards wowed us all. This year, the multifaceted Tamela Mann returns as a nominee for Best Gospel artist.
Tye Tribbett
Tye Tribbett is helping to reimagine the next era of gospel music with his high-energy, cross-genre brand of gospel music. Tribett nabbed a Grammy earlier this year and this summer will see him in the running for yet another top industry honor at the BET Awards.
The awards show will air live Sunday, June 29 at 8 p.m. ET on BET Networks from the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles. It will premiere elsewhere around the world on BET’s international network July 1, 8:00 p.m. GMT.
