Ferdinand Omanyala Falls Short of Olympic Finals: Africa’s Fastest Man Misses Out on 100m Final Spot.

Africa’s champion Ferdinand Omanyala will not be advancing to the Olympic finals in France. The Kenyan sprinter came in eighth during Sunday’s semi-finals when he clocked in at 10.08.

Taking the win was the current world’s fastest man, Kinshane Thompson who clocked in at an impressive 9.80. Taking second place was Fred Kerly from the USA with 9.84 seconds qualifying for the finals.

Kishane Thompson (Jamaica) – 9.80 (Q)

Fred Kerley (USA) – 9.84 (Q)

Benjamin Richardson (South Africa) – 9.95

Abdul Hakim Sani Brown (Japan) – 9.96

Andre de Grasse (Canada) – 9.98

Zharnel Hughes (Great Britain) – 10.01

Abdul-Rasheed Saminu (Ghana) – 10.05

Ferdinand Omanyala (Kenya) – 10.08

Puripol Boonson (Thailand) – 10.14

Ferdinard also lost hope at this stage back in 2021 during the Tokyo Olympics when he was disqualified at the preliminary rounds due to a false start. Omanyala then shifted upward in 2021, winning the Diamond League and African Championship.

Before the Olympics, Omanyala shared that discipline was key in his training and that focusing was key. He welcomed the cameras to his cozy, spacious, and stylish home with his pictures of different races filled on one of his walls adding that he still wants to collect some more portraits. Whether he will be in top shape for the next Olympics is up for discussion.
