Nairobi, Kenya – Beloved reggae deejay Jahmby Koikai, affectionately known as Fyah Mummah, has passed away. Koikai died on Monday evening at around 9 p.m. while in the Intensive Care Unit at Nairobi Hospital, as confirmed by a hospital source.
Jahmby had been admitted to the hospital and had made a public appeal for blood donors on her Instagram stories. “Hi fam, I’m currently admitted at the Pioneer Ward Nairobi Hospital and I kindly need Blood O positive. Kindly asking for blood donors for Mary Njambi Koikai,” she wrote.
Fans and admirers mourned the reggae queen online, expressing how much she had been a source of joy and entertainment for them. Jahmby Koikai had recently made a heartfelt plea to several Kenyan leaders, including President Ruto, urging them to invest in health during his state visit to the US.
Her passing has left a significant void in the reggae community and among her many fans worldwide.
