A few days after the county government issued a notice that anyone stepping on ‘Kidero’ grass will be subject to a fine of Ksh.2000/- some have naively made the first step to pay the fine. On Monday morning over 60 people were arrested by Nairobi County officials after they allegedly broke the county laws through littering and stepping on Kidero grass.
The offenders were arrested by the county’s Environmental Monitoring and Enforcement team and charged with dumping, littering and using undesignated walkaways, Nairobi News reports.
“The offenders appeared before City Principle Magistrate M.W Njagi. Most of the offenders were arrested on grounds of refusing to comply with last weeks’ notice issued against illegal dumping and littering,” said Governor Evans Kidero.
“Please avoid littering and dumping illegally and also ensure to only use designated pathways or else you will meet the same consequences,” he said.
