A newlywed couple have taken a place in the Guinness World Book Of Records after they broke two world records by having 130 bridesmaids and 100 ushers at their wedding on Sunday, February 22, 2015.
Amy Ewing and Radio DJ Alex Simmons tied the knot with 230 friends at Rudding Park in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, Mirror UK reports.
The couple succeeded in breaking a Double Guinness World Record, beating ‘Most ushers to one groom’, previously at 47, and ‘Most bridesmaids to one bride’, previously 126. It was first time these records have been attempted together at the same wedding and the first time they had been attempted in the UK.
Both records have been lodged and approved by The Guinness Book of World Records.
They met at a charity event in summer 2014 and started a relationship with plans to tie the knot at the end of 2015.
The couple from Leeds, West Yorks, already have four children between them from previous relationships and are expecting the first child of their own.
The groom said,
“I wouldn’t say I had to convince Amy but I hadn’t known her long. When we entered the competition we weren’t even engaged.
“We knew we had to take the opportunity.
“There is no way with kids we would have been able to afford this ourselves.
“This had made our dreams come true.
“The fact we can have everyone there is amazing.
