Jowie Irungu Sentenced To Death, Pleads With Justice Grace Nzioka

Jowie Irungu has been sentenced to death for the murder of business woman Monica Kimani. Delivering the verdict on Wednesday 13th March, High Court judge Grace Nzioka ruled that the gruesome murder of Monica Kimani was intentional.

Justice Grace Nzioka cited the impact the death of Monica had to the family including the mother who got depression and suffered a stroke that she is still recovering from till date. She also determined that Jowie who underwent military training in Dubai was indeed violent.

Why should I be if it’s for the Glory of God? This was Jowie’s response after he was asked whether he was afraid of going back to Kamiti Maximum Prison.

Joseph Irungu also known as Jowie was found guilty of the murder of business woman Monica Kimani back in February. He was set to be sentenced on March 8th.

The Nakuabudu singer, was charged alongside former Citizen journalist Jackie Maribe. Jackie was acquired from the charges and went home a free woman.

Jowie was set to be sentenced but according to the judge, their were some paperwork missing from both the accused and the prosecution side.

Due to this, the sentence has been moved to March 13th where Jowie will know his fate. His lawyers tried asking for more time but there request was denied.

Kenyans online took to social media to point out noticeable traits from Jowie like his hair and outfit. Jowie was sporting a well fitted suit and had a neat haircut. This impressed many Kenyans despite him being behind bars.
