The government has declared Thursday, July 7, 2016, a public holiday.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery made the announcement through a gazette notice.
“It is notified for general information that Thursday, July 7, 2016, will be observed as a public holiday to mark Eid-Ur-Fitr Day, pursuant to section 3 of the Public Holidays Act,” Nkaissery said.
The holiday is to allow Muslims all over the country to celebrate Eid. The Eid celebrations come after Ramadhan, a month of fasting.
